San Andreas Grand Gangsters Auto is set in a crime-ridden city. Players are provided with a map to navigate the city. Checkpoints are indicated in the map to see if there are any nearby shops, police, armory or missions. The top portion of the interface has the health bar, armor points, cash, wanted meter and the currently active weapon with ammunition. The bottom portion meanwhile gives the game controls like movement, focused shooting, burst shooting and hijacking a vehicle. Players are able to explore, gun down anyone and drive through. There are missions to be completed, ranging from assassination to sabotage. They can acquire weapons and armor for extra firepower and survivability. Vehicles are either purchased legally or stolen from the streets. There are also bystanders hanging around and killable. Stealing vehicles and shooting civilians increases the wanted meter. Police will become more aggressive against the player until they are killed. Players meanwhile either have to escape until the wanted meter lowers or they are killed by the police.
